“I was general dogsbody and as people left I took over their jobs. I ended up being a mower mechanic, I ended up being a bicycle mechanic because unfortunately Port Kembla did decline and our business went down from twenty people to two people over a period of time. In the end, there was just my brother and myself. It was very slow. The unfortunate thing is that there was just not the work anymore and then you’ve got the big places, the Harvey Norman’s and that, you just couldn’t keep up with them, they were just too big.”
